04.12.10- Hudson Entertainment's Military Madness: Nectaris Now Enlisting Gamers on WiiWare Archive
Re-Armed Version of the Classic TurboGrafx-16 Strategy Game Now Available
San Mateo, Calif. – Apr. 12, 2010 – Military Madness: Nectaris, the classic turn-based strategy game published by Hudson Entertainment, the North and South American subsidiary of HUDSON SOFT, is now available for download on WiiWare™ for 1000 Wii™ points.  This latest recruit to the series title features the same strategic gameplay that Military Madness players expect, along with new features such as 3D graphics, four-player online or local team vs. multiplayer, an all-new customizable Commander unit, leaderboards and more. Military Madness: Nectaris is also available for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and on PlayStation®Network for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.

“Military Madness: Nectaris appeals to the retro gamer in all of us, and the Wii system from Nintendo is the perfect platform for a game with such nostalgic appeal,” said Sabine Duvall, Vice President of Digital Download at Hudson Entertainment.  “Fans can relive the glory days of classic strategic gameplay, while also enjoying more modern conventions, such as online multiplayer and customizable features.”

With up to four-person online or local multiplayer available in vs. or team battles, Military Madness masters can compete with each other across the world.  Multiplayer maps are also specifically designed to be balanced for two, three or four players.  The addition of the multiplayer-specific Commander unit allows players to customize their strategies before a battle by spending points to select abilities that improve the Commander unit itself, improve friendly units or disrupt enemy units.

Within a year of its original release on the TurboGrafx-16 in 1989, Military Madness won awards for “Best Military Strategy Game” and “Best War Game.”  The game features two opposing forces with near-future military equipment battling it out on the Moon.  Each level is a distinct map with a hex grid, on which players take turns moving their units in an effort to win by destroying all enemy units or taking over the enemy headquarters.  Like the original game, Military Madness: Nectaris players strategize by the placement and movement of units, make use of terrain advantages and predict enemy movements to outsmart the enemy.  Military Madness: Nectaris has been rated E10+ by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).
